Infectious Disease to Follow Brazil Landslides?

After a series of disastrous landslides has hit Brazil, the death toll is continuing to rise and many are being forced to evacuate from their homes. As of Sunday there have been 806 casualties related to the landslide and flooding, making this the second worst disaster (as well as the worst natural disaster) in Brazilian history. Unfortunately this number is still rising and many people have been pronounced missing. The city of Nova Friburgo has been affected the most by this disaster, with the current death toll of 324. After facing this catastrophe, residents are now being warned of becoming infected with diseases that are being carried in the contaminated water. They are most at risk for leptospirosis which has already been reported to have infected three people.
